The Ultimate Spiritual Task

Now I know what I must do.

Inside me resides the power

to awaken humanity to the sacred cosmos.

The source of this power lies at the center of each of us.

We must act from that source.

I am God.

So are you.

Join me in the Oneness

of love.

We Are the Problem

Existence is all one thing

but the mind makes it into many things,

this and that,

you and me,

us and them,

human and animal,

woman and man,

God and me.

Struggling in quicksand never works.

Simply put, we are the problem, all of us,

identifying as separate beings.

Move from the many to the one and

know all are God.

Then there is no one left to fight.

The Origin of Deep Activism

Because there is only one divine being,

my being is God’s being,

your being is God’s being,

we all share the one indivisible being,

hence the universal commandment,

“Love thy neighbor as thy self.”

In mystical consciousness, what happens to you

happens to me, too, so I care for you as myself.

When ideas like

“you,” “me,” “yours” and “mine”

cease cleaving unity,

humanity will love the One as the All,

and we will dance together

in a great cosmic love song.

Mystical Activism

The experience of mystical oneness

is itself activism.

When “I” dissolve in the All,

torrents of divine love pour through me

into Creation

reaching every corner.

As the poet becomes the poem,

and the lover becomes the beloved,

so too does

the mystic become God

leavening the world with love.

Do you think me crazy?

Be God and get crazy, too.

When I close my eyes and sense

the silent interior,

I realize it’s not “me” in there,

it’s God.

Disappearing

Disappearing

Gazing out the window into an August garden, absent-

mindedly surveying the colorful,  overflowing

abundance,

I rest in the peace of now.

I enter stillness.

Words lose their meaning,

tumble into silent nothingness.

The mind settles.

I disappear in the void.

Only a shell remains,

and you,

everywhere,

like air.
